I have a new dress!

Hi everyone,

Since I only wear clothes from the 1930s (other clothes make me all dizzy), I don't have too many clothes, most of the patterns are modern and American Girl outfits are expensive!

But the other day, my Mum and my Grandma made me a dress! It's very pretty, and it doesn't make me dizzy! In the picture, you can also see my new teddy- I named him Reginald:

I am getting ready to start school- I will be homeschooling again until the private school that I will be going to has an extra space for me, probably next year or mid-way through this year. I start homeschooling again on Monday. I hope you guys are all having fun at school!

A day at the zoo!

Hi there to all of my internet friends!

We have finally begun to settle into our rental (just until our house is built) and it is very nice. I wish there was more space to run around outside but Mum says that after we move, there will be plenty of that.

I got to go to the zoo with my Mum! She was hoping to take some pictures of me, but the zoo was crowded and there was nowhere for me to sit- Mum was afraid that I would get knocked over. I did get to take some pictures of the animals with Mum's camera, though. My favourite animal was the elephant:

His playground was very big, and he was happy to demonstrate the use of his toys for us!

The only part of the zoo that I didn't like were the tigers- thank goodness they were sleeping! I was afraid they would wake up and find me, only 18 inches tall, and try to have me as a snack! I did manage to snap one photo before I hurried away:

I can't believe summer is almost over, but I have had so much fun! How were your summers, everyone?

Hey Everyone,

I was glad to get to check some of my online friend's blogs today- it was awesome to see what everyone was up to!

Norah-Rose, my Mum and I are in the middle of moving so our internet will be a little shaky for the next couple of weeks. After that, though, I'll be happy to get back to updating my blog regularly!

Going on Vacation!

We're leaving tomorrow morning to go on vacation, and I won't be able to update my blog while I'm gone.

We're going to visit some of Mum's relatives, and we'll do lots of fun things while we're there. I'll get Mum to take pictures and I'll post some when we get back.

I hate the weather!

Hello everyone,

I was ready to go outside tomorrow, after my Mum is finished her last exam. We were going to go down to the stream, and she was going to bring me to the waterfall. It's so pretty, and there are the neatest things in the woods. Here is a photo of a great climbing tree that I took the other day:

But, when I checked the weather forecast this morning: Rain, rain, cloudy, rain, and rain!!! It looks like our walk in the woods isn't going to happen after all.

Any suggestions on what to do on a rainy day?

Last day of school tomorrow!

Hi everyone,

I'm so excited! My last day of home schooling before my summer break is tomorrow! I have a few pages left in math, and then I have to write an english essay on a certain time period in history. I'm not sure which yet, I find out tomorrow!

After that, I'm free to do what I want all summer! Norah and I are going to rent lots of musicals to watch together. Her requests are "The Sound of Music" and "Annie" but I want to see "Mary Poppins". I guess we will have time to watch all three! Does anyone know of any other good musicals that we can get on DVD?

The movie "Chrissa Stands Strong"

Hi everyone!

I just finished watching the American Girl Movie "Chrissa Stands Strong". We had to wait for it to come out in Canada before we could watch it, and then we were on a waiting list that was a mile long, but we finally got it!

I really liked it, because I think that what happened to Chrissa and Gwen in the movie really happens to a lot of girls, and not enough people know about it. I also liked that fact that Sonali started as one of the "mean bees" and ended up as a friend to Chrissa and Gwen.

Norah and I danced and sang along to the song at the end over and over and over again, until Mum threatened to return the movie to the library. So we stopped, but we had so much fun!

Who else has seen the Chrissa movie?

Best Friends!

Hiya!

I realized this evening that I have never introduced everyone to my sister. She arrived about a month ago. Her name is Norah Rose Miller and she is eight (but almost nine) years old. She has red hair and grey eyes. We get along really well (Mum says that it's a good thing, or else there would be a lot of noise in our house!)and so we play lots of games together.

Norah Rose (sometimes we just call her Norah) loves the theatre and acting. She loves watching movies with my Mum and she keeps up to date with shows like American Idol and Britain's Got Talent. She is begging my Mum to bring her to a live performance of anything, and Mum says maybe she will bring her to the next AG movie when it comes out, or maybe to The Nutcracker as a Christmas treat. Right now, however, Norah is sulking because Mum is going to Cirque Du Soleil (The new OVO show) tomorrow, and she can't bring Norah because she will be out and about all day and is too worried about her getting lost...

I'm so happy I have a new best friend and someone to play with. Who are your best friends?

I love warm weather!

Hi everyone!

Don't you just love when it starts getting warm enough to go outside without a sweater? Today it was very nice out and I went outside in sandals and my dress!

I got to play in the yard, but there wasn't much to do because the toys are still in the garage, where they are stored during the winter. I did get to climb the rose trellis though, because there weren't any roses on it yet! I can't wait for the end of school so that I can play all day!

My blanket is coming along quite well. Any colour suggestions? I'm making a crazy quilt, so each square will be different.

Crochet

Hello!

Does anyone here knit or crochet? My Mum told me last week that I had to learn at least one (she knows both) for my homeschool art unit. I though it sounded deathly boring, sort of like sewing. After she told me about the new project, I even went back to my sewing circle post to see what everyone's suggestions were to avoid things that you don't want to do.

But we started today, and it's actually not so bad! My Mum showed me how to make little squares called Granny Squares. I love picking out the different colours of wool to make the squares, and Mum says that if I make enough, I can sew them all together to make a blanket!

So, I'm off to work on my blanket! Maybe it will be done before we move to the cottage, I would be good for around the campfire...

My life... a post after a long break

Hi there everyone,

My Mum has kept me so busy lately that I haven't had time to post on my blog at all! Since it's too late to enroll me in boarding or even public school for this year, I've been working through a bunch of homeschooling workbooks so that I don't fall behind. Right now I'm working on division in math, poetry in english, vocabulary in french, and paintings in art. But I only have a few more weeks left and then, I will be done until September, when I will be going to a real school.

On a happier note, it is definitely almost summer here! It's been very sunny and nice for the last few days and it's been about 30 degrees! That's about 85 degrees Fahrenheit, I think. I'm so happy to be able to play outside again. Last weekend we even ate some ice cream!

I have exciting plans for this summer. My Mum is moving into a new house (and bringing me with her, of course) but we will be staying at a cottage for about three months. Mum says that we will be able to swim and be outside way more than in the city. My sister Norah Rose and I will both be going, but my sister Stacey hates being outside for a long time, so she's going to stay with some friends for awhile.

Well, that's all for today, but I will be updating more often now. My Mum says that she'll take 10% off my english mark if I don't write regularly.

Earth Hour and Earth Day

Hi everyone!

It's March! That means spring!!! Hooray! I love spring and I can't wait for it to get warmer.

Lately, I have ben studying the environment at school. Today, we talked about an event called Earth Hour, where everyone in the whole WORLD turns off their lights for one hour. It's on Saturday, March 28th, from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. We will be turning off our lights here and Mum says that perhaps we can have a sleepover in honour of the day.

Skating!

Hi everyone,

I've been really busy lately and I've been absolutely terrible with updating my blog. I'm really sorry.

I got to go skating for the first time ever! I don't even have skates, but I went to the pond anyways and skated with my boots. The walk to the pond was long and cold, but it was worth it! The pond is huge and I had so much fun.

I only fell over a few times and I fell through the ice once! Luckily it wasn't very deep in that spot so only my shoes got wet.

Pajama Party!

Hello Everyone!

The other day me and all of my friends had a pajama party! It was so much fun, even though it didn't go exactly as planned... let me tell you what happened.

First, me and all of my friends met in my Mum's living (because it's big) and we had pillow fights, Jessica did everyone's (well, everyone except for Christopher's) hair and we had lots of snacks. Then, suddenly, all of the lights went out! Lindsey screamed and I started to run around (until I ran into Stacey, who fell over and landed on Jessica, who hit Christopher in the face, who started yelling). Mum came in and told us that the power was going to be out for about five hours. We lit some candle and continued our sleepover. We had fun, even though it was dark!

The next morning, we had fun playing charades, until Mum got mad. Okay, maybe it was 3 o'clock, and maybe we did have the lights on, and maybe the music and the T.V. were on, but still...

Hi everyone!

Mum has been hogging the computer lately (she has a bunch of exams) so I haven't had much time to update my blog. But she's reading something right now (probably a textbook) so I can finally get on here! Hooray!

While Mum has been studying, I've been looking over some papers from different schools. Mum says I have to start school soon. I don't want to. School is usually slow and boring.

There is a boarding school that sounds okay. It's pretty small. It's called Ivy Hills Private School, and it's near where I live.

Where do you go to school? I love hearing from everyone.

Power Outage!

Hi everyone,

Just the other day we had a huge power outage. It was fun, but a little scary too! I found out how different power outages are in 2009 from 1934 (that's when I'm from!). The entire city practically stops, they rely so much on electric power!

Since me and my sister Stacey didn't want to sit around all on our own in the dark, we spent most of the afternoon and evening with my Mum. We got to play Monopoly by candlelight, and have sandwiches for dinner, which was very strange.I put salt on my strawberries because in the dark it looked the same as sugar! It tasted disgusting!

Has anyone else had any power outages lately?

Sisters

Today Mom and I talked about sisters. She wanted to know how many sisters I wanted to have, and which ones I would get along with the best. I told her that I would get along with everyone, but I don't think she believed me. This could have something to do with the fact that I had just gotten mad at my only sister- she didn't want to do anything but read today. I mean, come on, reading is great, but there are much better things to do.

Back to the sisters issue. I was checking the American Girl site (because it appears that they've neglected to send us a catalogue... again.) and I found the pictures of the new girls of the year. Chrissa, Sonali, and Gwen. I asked if any of them would get to be my sisters. Mum said no. She told me that if I got any new sisters anytime soon, they would be historical like me. She likes Kirsten, but if Molly and Emily are next to be archived, apparently they will both be coming home.

How many sisters do you have? Are you getting any new ones soon? I'll ask Mum to put up a poll when she decides to get a new sister.

Sewing circle???

I hate sewing. Absolutely, positively loathe it. Once, my friend Ruthie's mom made us join a children's sewing circle. I hated it. So when my Mum pulled me away from writing my next newspaper, and told me we were headed to my Aunt's to sew, I was mad. Very mad.

There were two other girls there. They were close to my age: Jessica is eight and Lindsey is ten. They seem quite nice. Apparently they are my cousins. I thought that maybe we would get to play while Mum and Auntie sewed, but no such luck.

Once we got started, it wasn't too bad. I worked on my handkerchief, but for my next project, I can do whatever I want.

Does anyone have any tips for avoiding sewing circle?

Natural Troublemaker?

Today, I was running around the house with my sister (we were having loads of fun, I was a rescuer and she was a fair maiden- I had to save her!) when Mum called me. She wanted to take some pictures of me.

She got a little frustrated with me because I kept running off while she was trying to take the photographs. But honestly, I wasn't trying to be disobedient. Is it my fault that I didn't know that the printer was set to photocopy 30 copies when I pressed the big green button? Is it my fault that the books on the top shelf were unstable and they all fell down when I tried to stand on them? Mum says I'm a natural troublemaker.

Mum got some pictures, and she promised to post an album soon. When she does I will be sure to post the link here, but in the meantime here is one of the pictures.

By the way, does anyone know of any really good doll pattern books? Mum has some gift cards to spend on books.

I'm finally home!

Today I finally arrived! I am so happy, my new Mum and I have been having so much fun. Today was Christmas, and there was a big Christmas party, but the best part was the doll-sized tree Mum had set up for me and my sister. My sister's name is Stacey (she's not an American girl doll like me) and I think we are going to be good friends.

Tomorrow will be a busy day again, with more Christmas celebrations, but Mum says that she will try to take some more pictures of me.

I'm tired from all the excitement, so I think I will go curl up in my new flannel pajamas and go to bed.

Hi there! My name is Kit! Right now I am traveling, because I will soon be moving in with my new Mum. They say that I will be arriving on Christmas day, so I hope that I will be a wonderful surprise.
